Hotel Review: Regent Porto Montenegro

Also called the southernmost fjord in Europe, the Bay of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is truly breathtaking. Once a Yugoslav naval base, Porto Montenegro has been transformed into a super port with more than a kilometer of west-facing beach. It is a stylish development with designer shops around the village behind the coast.

Regent Porto Montenegro is modeled after a Venetian palace, five stories high and topped with a terracotta roof. Three wings flank the double-height lobby and all rooms are designed to give the feeling of being on a luxury ship. Wooden floors and custom-made Mediterranean furniture create a unique sense of place, and the walls are lined with original drawings from the former shipyard.

The sea is always present here, both from the large balconies of your rooms and right next to you when you dine on the terrace. Superyachts come and go, emphasizing a strong sense of exclusivity, but it’s never overcrowded. Rather, it feels like the perfect place to relax.

To whom

Families, couples and businessmen, even oligarchs getting off their yachts and looking for a night ashore.

 Accommodation

175 rooms and suites in three wings of the hotel: Venezia, Aqua and Baia. Inspired by the enchanting views of the Bay of Kotor and the sea, the Venetian rooms and suites combine classic sophistication with a subtle nautical theme reminiscent of a private cabin on a luxury ship.

With rooms in the Aqua and Baia wings inspired by the Italian Riviera, with a tranquil pool club and pool as the focal point, the living spaces offer sophisticated and modern amenities.

We stayed in the Venice Deluxe Sea View room with a large open terrace. From here you have a beautiful view of the Boka bay of the Adriatic Sea, which sparkles just outside the window. Inside, clean lines, sea-inspired furniture and luxurious fabrics in soothing shades of blue and beige create the perfect seaside location. A linen canopy resembling a sail hangs above the bed.

The bathroom has a large bath and walk-in shower with rain shower and two sinks, and there’s a ship-style hatch if you want to connect to the bedroom. A large LED TV, a Nespresso coffee machine and free mineral water ensure a comfortable stay. The solid wood furniture, made especially for the hotel, really impresses.
